I grew up in Nebraska City, Nebraska. At the age of 5 I accepted Jesus Christ as my Savior. My family attended First Baptist Church in Nebraska City. After graduating from high school I wanted to be a mechanical engineer, but God used some difficulties in my life to show me my love for myself as opposed to truly wanting to follow Him. I enrolled at Faith Baptist Bible College for one year, and that one year turned into a whole degree as I felt God's call upon my life to preach and lead in the church. I graduated from college in 2004, married my wife Amanda and began seminary at Faith Theological Seminary. After serving for two years as interim pastor in Garwin, IA , God called me here to Oak Grove Baptist Church. My hobbies include tree climbing, frisbee golfing, cycling, skiing, and riding motorcycles. One of the most important verses of the Bible to me is Romans 5:8 - "God demonstrates His love toward us in that while we were yet sinners Christ died for us!" I love this verse because it reminds me of God's constant unconditional love for me and everyone. It also encourages me to love those around me with the same love.
